We believe in the importance of research, and appreciate that you do too. Below you will find some answers to questions we get asked a lot. We hope you won’t hesitate to let us know if you still have questions.
Non-impact, weight-bearing exercises are the most efficient movement for muscle strength. Physical results come quickly because muscles respond naturally to this approach. Added to our obsession with healthy neutral spine position, and our focus on education and individual attention, and The Dailey Method is like nothing else.
You will feel it on the very first class. Come three times per week, for six weeks and you will experience a significant increase in strength and flexibility and notice improved tone in your body. Greater results are achieved with more frequency per week and continuity over time.
Anyone interested in improving their fitness level; including increased strength, flexibility, stamina, better posture and body awareness are welcome. Our students range from 14 to 75 years old.
The Dailey Method provides deep, efficient muscle fitness—without a direct aerobic element. However, more advanced students keep their heart rate elevated as they participate more vigorously. Many of our studios offer Dailey Cycle, for those who want to add extra cardio to their fitness routine.
Yes, The Dailey Method is a very safe form of exercise. It is based on orthopedic movement and is devoted to the most current research. All of the exercises emphasize proper alignment and form. Through our careful instruction, the ankles, knees, hips and spine are strengthened and stabilized. Students who have come to us with previous injuries have been amazed at the speed of their recovery.
Yes, The Dailey Method is a very safe workout for pregnant and postpartum women. Many of our students, including Jill Dailey McIntosh, have attended classes throughout their pregnancies. A few minor modifications make this class a very thorough and effective workout to help you look and feel your best. Please note that a written consent from your doctor is required.
Your core is the powerhouse where all efficient movement begins. Regular conditioning of the core muscles is vital for supporting the back and preventing injuries. Correcting posture ensures the best functional movement patterns. The abdominal muscles are a primary part of the core, so The Dailey Method classes emphasize strengthening the abdominal muscles from start to finish.
The Dailey Method is a total body workout. It works you out from the end of your nose to the tip of your toes. After intentionally setting proper alignment every muscle group is taken account, strengthened, and stretched to give you the workout of a lifetime!
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Preferably not too loose or baggy so teachers are able to see your alignment/form. Socks are required.
“Barre” none The Dailey Method is the best overall body work out I have found. It’s part strength training, stretching, barre work, and core conditioning with aspects of Pilates and yoga in a setting that is both fun and energetic. You’ll find each session both personally challenging and satisfying in defining a new level of fitness.– Sue M., Los Gatos
“The instructors really care if you have correct form, which doesn’t always happen in other group exercise classes.”– Erin W., Santa Rosa
“The isometric movements and breathing prepared my body for childbirth. Although my body changed dramatically from being pregnant I am toned in places that I never was before. I am so grateful to have found TDM when I did.”– Kelly Eshelman, Venice
“Nothing else I’ve tried comes close to feeling as healthy or as effective as the low impact, slow and controlled movements of TDM. I love the instructors, the other clients, and the warm and encouraging atmosphere. The Dailey Method has become a staple in my life and I’m so grateful to have found it.”– Julia B., Calabasas
“If you are looking to take your workout routine up a notch or even just to get back into a routine, I highly recommend joining TDM!”– Michelle, Pittsburgh
The Dailey Method has a welcoming, fun atmosphere with wonderful instructors who genuinely care about their clients. The instructors are knowledgable and take the time to adjust you to make sure your alignment is right. It’s like personal training in a group class. I came to TDM after being told about it from a local, and have been so blessed by it since. I have had intermittent hip problems since I was in grade school, accepting that it could be arthritis and there was nothing I could do about it. I’m only 28, so I was disheartened, but just lived with it. Since I have been going to the Dailey Method 5 times a week for about a month now, I have not had any hip pain. I am convinced my body was out of alignment from playing sports all my life, and without the know how of “keeping my hips square” and stretching I would have remained out of alignment!
“I know this is an on-going commitment to my body and I am beyond pleased with the results I’m getting from the Dailey Method.”– Amy, Denver - Highlands
“My Dailey practice has taught me that when you are preparing for something challenging inside and outside the studio you need to breathe to make space for it. This committed practice inside and outside the studio has taught me to have a strong foundation, align then move. It has become a way of life for me personally and professionally to be just as strong as I am flexible.”– Sara Provenzano, Elmhurst
