Have a question? The Dailey Method has the answer.

We believe in the importance of research, and appreciate that you do too.  Below you will find some answers to questions we get asked a lot.  We hope you won’t hesitate to let us know if you still have questions.

How is The Dailey Method different from anything else out there?

Non-impact, weight-bearing exercises are the most efficient movement for muscle strength. Physical results come quickly because muscles respond naturally to this approach. Added to our obsession with healthy neutral spine position, and our focus on education and individual attention, and The Dailey Method is like nothing else.

How often do I need to come to see results?

You will feel it on the very first class. Come three times per week, for six weeks and you will experience a significant increase in strength and flexibility and notice improved tone in your body. Greater results are achieved with more frequency per week and continuity over time.

Do students need to be at a certain fitness level or age to attend The Dailey Method?

Anyone interested in improving their fitness level; including increased strength, flexibility, stamina, better posture and body awareness are welcome. Our students range from 14 to 75 years old.

Is The Dailey Method an aerobic workout?

The Dailey Method provides deep, efficient muscle fitness—without a direct aerobic element. However, more advanced students keep their heart rate elevated as they participate more vigorously. Many of our studios offer Dailey Cycle, for those who want to add extra cardio to their fitness routine.

Can The Dailey Method help me prevent or rehabilitate from injury?

Yes, The Dailey Method is a very safe form of exercise. It is based on orthopedic movement and is devoted to the most current research. All of the exercises emphasize proper alignment and form. Through our careful instruction, the ankles, knees, hips and spine are strengthened and stabilized. Students who have come to us with previous injuries have been amazed at the speed of their recovery.

Can I attend class during pregnancy?

Yes, The Dailey Method is a very safe workout for pregnant and postpartum women. Many of our students, including Jill Dailey McIntosh, have attended classes throughout their pregnancies. A few minor modifications make this class a very thorough and effective workout to help you look and feel your best. Please note that a written consent from your doctor is required.

Why does The Dailey Method have such a strong emphasis on core conditioning?

Your core is the powerhouse where all efficient movement begins. Regular conditioning of the core muscles is vital for supporting the back and preventing injuries. Correcting posture ensures the best functional movement patterns. The abdominal muscles are a primary part of the core, so The Dailey Method classes emphasize strengthening the abdominal muscles from start to finish.

Does The Dailey Method provide a full body workout?

The Dailey Method is a total body workout. It works you out from the end of your nose to the tip of your toes. After intentionally setting proper alignment every muscle group is taken account, strengthened, and stretched to give you the workout of a lifetime!

What should I wear to class?

Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Preferably not too loose or baggy so teachers are able to see your alignment/form. Socks are required.

I found out about the Dailey Method early in 2013 as I was looking for a new exercise program – I tried a class and loved it from day 1. The instructors are upbeat, encouraging, positive and inspiring. My practice includes all 3 classes – Principles, Mixed and Interval – all are challenging and provide me a great workout, and it didn’t take long to see results.

“I also love the mind-body connection and how I feel after attending a class. Thank you Dailey Method Vancouver!”

    – Melissa Allen, St. Louis
  • After having 3 children in less than 2 years, The Dailey Method helped me shed the weight I had gained and recover the energy, strength and flexibility that I had lost throughout pregnancy.  After starting to combine the newer Dailey Interval class with my regular Mixed classes I’ve seen an even greater total body transformation that I never could have imagined!

    – Erin M., Northbrook
  • “The isometric movements and breathing prepared my body for childbirth. Although my body changed dramatically from being pregnant I am toned in places that I never was before. I am so grateful to have found TDM when I did.”

    – Kelly Eshelman, Venice
  • Working out has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I used to think that the heavier and harder you go the faster you’ll see results. I was nervous for TDM to be my sole workout after having the baby, but after countless conversations with instructors, they assured me I would see results in a whole different way. I started to measure myself and I quickly noticed I was losing inches, everywhere! It’s exciting to see that my body has started to change in many ways.  I’m feeling longer and leaner. I’m excited to see my arms getting toned with lighter weights rather than killing myself with huge heavy weights! No workout is the same and each one is a challenge. I can’t imagine my life without TDM. It is amazing for your mind and body and I feel as if I’m nurtured in every class. I am looking forward to seeing myself become stronger, leaner and hopefully more flexible!
